What a factory can supply that a jewellery wholesaler cannot

We use these tools ourselves every day, which means we can supply them with a working knowledge of what breaks. The practical advantage is consolidation. Tools sit under different HS headings from finished jewellery, so they must be declared as separate invoice lines, but they can travel in the same shipment and share the freight. Buyers opening a setting or repair bench alongside a retail business usually place one combined order.

Consumables with the best repeat economics

Buffing wheels, polishing compounds, soldering flux, burrs, gem jars and parcel papers are consumed constantly and reorder predictably. Unit margins are lower than on finished jewellery, but the repeat behaviour is far more reliable, which makes them useful for smoothing cash flow and for keeping a trade account active between jewellery orders.

What to verify before importing tools

  • Voltage and plug standard. Polishing motors and ultrasonic cleaners are region-specific. A 220 V motor is unusable in North America without a transformer, and the reverse applies.
  • Spare part availability. Ask for the motor brush and handpiece part numbers before ordering, or plan to replace rather than repair.
  • Bulk versus retail packaging. Workshop buyers generally want bulk, because retail-packaged tools carry retail pricing.
  • Freight restrictions. Torches, aerosols and some solvents cannot travel by air. Plan those for sea freight or source locally.
  • HS classification. Tools are not jewellery. Confirm the correct heading with your broker so the invoice lines are classified separately and correctly.

Quality control on tools

  • Calipers and gauges are checked against a reference standard before packing.
  • Burrs are inspected for concentricity. An off-centre burr breaks prongs and is the most common defect in cheap sets.
  • Polishing motors are run before packing and the brush condition is recorded.
  • Ultrasonic cleaner tanks are leak-tested, because a leaking tank is not repairable and is a total loss on arrival.

Questions about Jewelry Tools

Can tools ship in the same parcel as jewellery?

Yes, and most buyers consolidate them for exactly that reason. Tools and jewellery sit under different HS headings, so the invoice must list them as separate lines with their own codes and declared values, but they can travel in the same shipment and share one freight cost and one customs entry. Tell us at the order stage so the invoice is structured correctly from the start.

Which voltage do your polishing motors and ultrasonic cleaners use?

We supply both 110 V and 220 V versions depending on your market, and we confirm the plug standard before dispatch for US and Canada, UK, EU or Australia. Voltage is the single most common specification error in tool orders, so state your destination country explicitly on the order rather than assuming the standard version will work.

Is there a MOQ on tools?

Tools are ordered in manufacturer pack quantities rather than our jewellery MOQ tiers, commonly 1, 5, 10 or 20 pieces per item depending on the tool. There is no separate freight minimum when the tools travel with a jewellery order. For a starter kit assembled for a new workshop, the kit is quoted as a bundle with a single combined price.

Do you supply spare parts for the motors?

Yes for the common motor and handpiece models, and we recommend ordering at least one spare brush set with the initial order. For less common models we will tell you at quotation stage whether spares are available rather than leaving you to discover it when a motor fails. If spares are not available, we will say so and recommend a model that is serviceable.
